Teaneck School screened the short film "First Day Back" to their 1,500 students. The film is centered around "a high school struggling to feel safe after the death of a student due to gun violence." The goal of the screening was to open the student's eyes up to gun violence and its effects. ABC 7 told the story; Teaneck school officials brought in famed actress and activist Sheryl Lee Ralph on Friday to screen her short film "First Day Back" to 1,500 students at Teaneck High School.
"From what I'm hearing from most students is that they were touched and really inspired," Teaneck Schools Superintendent Dr. Christopher C. Irving said.
Ralph's film, which will be featured in the Teaneck International Film Festival (TIFF), deals with a high school struggling to feel safe after the death of student due to gun violence.
